Broncs to host MAAC Championship Tournament
LAWRENCEVILLE--For the fifth consecutive season, Rider University will be the site of a conference field hockey championship tournament with the inaugural Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship contested November 8-9 on Ben Cohen Field.
Rider (13-6, 5-1 MAAC) won its fifth regular season conference title in a row and eighth conference title overall, seven in the Northeast Conference and 2013 in the Metro Atlanitc Athletic Conference.
The semifinals on Friday will feature the second seed, Quinnipiac (12-6, 5-1 MAAC), against the third seed, Bryant (11-6, 4-2 MAAC), at 3:00 p.m.
Top-seeded Rider will play the fourth seed, Robert Morris (10-7, 3-3 MAAC) on Friday, at 6:00 p.m.
The MAAC Title Game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Saturday.
Rider has played in 11 of the last 13 Conference Title Games, winning six, all in the Northeast Conference.
Rider is 2-1 against the playoff field, having defeated Robert Morris 2-0 on October 13 and Quinnipiac 2-1 on October 25. The Broncs lost at Bryant October 8, 2-1 in a double overtime game that was decided in a shoot out.
