Women’s College Basketball
Rider at Seton Hall – Sunday at 2pm
SOUTH ORANGE—The leaves are turning. The weather has gone from the breezes of summer to winter temperatures in a matter of days. And the Rider University women’s basketball team is looking for a little early holiday spirit as the Broncs try to Deck the Hall Sunday afternoon.
Rider (0-1) travels up the New Jersey Turnpike to face Seton Hall University in the second game of the season at 2 p.m.
The Broncs lost at Lafayette 67-62 Friday night, in a game that saw four ties and 14 lead changes.
Rider was led by All-Conference senior MyNeshia McKenzie (Springfield, Pa./Springfield (Delco)) who scored a career-high 24 points and pulled down 12 rebounds against the Leopards for her 27th ‘double-double’.
McKenzie also scored her 1,000th career point and is now 18th all-time on Rider’s scoring list. McKenzie is also fifth all-time on the Bronc rebounding list and she enters play needing one rebound for 800 in her career.
Junior Emily Fazzini (Wayne, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds in 23 minutes of action against Lafayette with sophomore Mikal Johnson (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) adding 10 points in 31 minutes off the bench.
Seton Hall (1-0), which has defeated Rider all seven times in the series, enters play having defeated Longwood University 63-46 on Friday night.
The Pirates are led by first year head coach Anthony Bozzella (Seton Hall ’89) who should be very familiar to Bronc fans, having guided MAAC-rival Iona College for 11 seasons before returning to coach his alma mater.
If you can’t make the game, you can once again listen live as the radio for all away games will be broadcast on 107.7 FM The Bronc and streamed on-line at 1077thebronc.com and GoBroncs.com with Jeff Nolan, Dick Wiseman, Dave Polaski and Jon Mozes bringing you all of the action.
Rider looks to start the early holiday season (and basketball season) off right by Decking the Hall, Sunday against the Pirates.
