Joe Kerrigan to Speak to Broncs
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—Former Major League Baseball pitcher, manager and long-time pitching coach Joe Kerrigan will be the guest speaker at Rider’s sixth annual “First Pitch Dinner” on January 25.
A first round pick out of Temple University in 1974, Kerrigan played for the Montreal Expos and the Baltimore Orioles and managed the Boston Red Sox.
He has been a pitching coach with the Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates and Expos, and a bullpen coach with the New York Yankees.
“We are very excited to have Joe with us,” said Rider head coach Barry Davis, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2006. “He has a vast amount of experience at the highest level and we look forward to hearing him speak about his life in baseball.”
The “First Pitch Dinner” will be held January 25 at the Greenacres Country Club, across the street from Rider’s Lawrenceville campus. At the Dinner the 2014 Rider baseball team will be introduced. There will also be an auction and raffle. Cocktails begin at 6:00 pm and the dinner will be served at 7:00 pm.
Tickets are $125 for the reception and dinner, $75 for Rider baseball alumni who have graduated since 2005, and $40 for children 13 years old and under.
The emcee for the Dinner will be Philadelphia Phillies Television Play-by-Play broadcaster Tom McCarthy.
