Rider Hosts Siena on Friday Evening

LAWRENCEVILLE—After digging out from under a foot of snow earlier in the week, the Rider University women’s basketball team hopes to dig out of its recent offensive slump as the Broncs face Siena College on Friday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., in Alumni Gymnasium on the Lawrenceville campus.

After averaging 64.5 points per game in the first 15 contests of the season, the Bronc offense has been ice cold, scoring 49.0 points per game in their last three outings.

The silver lining is that the Rider defense has also put the opposition in the deep freeze in the last three contests, allowing only 53.0 points per game.

Rider (8-10, 4-5 MAAC) continues to be led by senior All-MAAC performer MyNeshia McKenzie (Springfield, Pa./Springfield (Delco)) who is second in the conference in both scoring (19.5 ppg.) and rebounding (10.9 rpg.) while playing over 36 minutes per game.

In Rider’s game against Quinnipiac on Tuesday, sophomore Manon Pellet (Marseille, France) missed a ‘double-double’ by one rebound, scoring 10 points and grabbing nine boards while celebrating her 21st birthday.

Siena (6-11, 1-7 MAAC) enters having lost five games in a row.

Tehresa Coles is the leading scorer for the Saints, averaging 9.1 points per game and she is also the Siena leading rebounder at 6.1 rebounds per game.

Rider and Siena last met on December 31 when the Broncs scored 27 of the final 39 points in the game, turning a 51-50 deficit into a 77-63 victory in Loudonville, New York.

Siena leads the all-time series 27-9 however Rider has won three in a row over the Saints after Siena had defeated Rider in the 10 straight games prior.
