Broncs at Quinnipiac on ESPN3 Saturday

HAMDEN, CT—The Broncs will compete on ESPN3 for the fourth time this season when Rider plays a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at Quinnipiac University Saturday afternoon.  Tip is 2:00pm at the TD Bank Sports Center.

ESPN3 is the live multi-screen online network at WatchESPN.com.

Quinnipiac (13-8, 8-4 MAAC) is first in the MAAC in rebounding and second in scoring. The Bobcats won in overtime at Siena February 1 and have not played since.  The game will be Rider’s sixth in 16 days.

QU has won four of its last six games and is tied with Manhattan for third place in the MAAC. The Bobcats have balanced scoring, with four players averaging between 14.5 and 12.5 points per game. A pair of junior forwards, 6’7” Ike Azotam and 6’9” Ousmane Drame, combine for 29 points and 21 rebounds per game. Azotam leads the team with 16.5 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, while Drame is contributing 12.5 points and 9.8 rebounds. Junior guard Zaid Hearst is averaging 15.4 points and 7.7 rebounds.

Rider defeated Quinnipiac 90-78 on December 8 in Lawrenceville. The Broncs have played and defeated Quinnipiac three times, in 1970-71 (79-75) and in 2003-04 (89-70) in the first round of the Hawaii Hilo Tournament, before Quinnipiac joined the MAAC this year.

Rider (12-10, 8-5 MAAC) won three games in a row for the second time this season before losing to Marist Thursday. Against Marist Rider was out-rebounded 47-26, made just five of 22 three-pointers and took just 10 foul shots (made eight) in the 68-61 loss. Seniors Anthony Myles and Daniel Stewart combined for 33 points.

Rider returns home to host Manhattan Thursday, February 13.
