Rider’s Taylor Honored by MAAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—Rider University freshman point guard Jimmie Taylor III has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for all games played February 3-9.

In three games last week Taylor (Branford, Fla./Suwannee) averaged 13.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, shooting .538 percent from three-point range and .875 from the foul line.

“I'm happy for Jimmie Taylor receiving Rookie of the Week honors,” said Rider head coach Kevin Baggett. “If we are going to have a chance to finish in the top half of the league we will really need for Jimmie to be playing his best basketball down the stretch.”

Taylor has scored in double figures in his last four games.

In a win over Fairfield, Taylor compiled 14 points, three assists, two steals and two rebounds, making all three of his three-point shots.

Against Marist he also scored 14 points, including five points in an 11-4 Rider run that tied the score at 49-49.

Taylor was also the MAAC Rookie of the Week in December.

Rider hosts Manhattan Thursday at 7pm.
