Rider at IC4A/ECAC Day Two
BOSTON, MASS.—The Broncs came home from the IC4A/ECAC Championships, hosted by Boston University with a pair of All-East finishers. “That’s great,” said Rider head coach Bob Hamer.
For the Rider women, sophomore Dashana Ransome (Irvington, N.J. /Irvington) earned All-East honors in the 60m hurdles, finishing fifth in a time of 8.75. “Shana ran her best hurdle race of the year,” Hamer said. “It was great to see her come back after a tough first half of the year.”
Junior Emily Ritter (Millsboro, Del. /Sussex Tech) earned All-East in the mile, finishing eighth in 4:54.77. “Emily did a great job,” Hamer said.
The women’s Distance Medley Relay team of graduate student Megan Elgin (Doylestown, Pa. /Central Bucks East), junior Ashley Edwards (Westfield, N.J. /Westfield), freshman Juliann Brand (Egg Harbor, N.J. /Egg Harbor Twp.) and freshman Megan McGarrity (Philadelphia, Pa. /Saint Basil Academy) ran a season-best 12:04.07. “The DMR was great,” Hamer said. “They believe in themselves and Meg started off great and everybody else just followed along. That was great to see.”
For the Rider men, junior George Solujich (East Windsor, N.J. /Notre Dame) placed 21st in the shot put (50’2.75”)
Junior Anthony DeFranco (Berkeley Heights, N.J. /Governor Livingston) placed 23rd in the pole vault (4.80m).
Junior Nasser Zayer (Staten Island, N.Y. /St. Peter's) placed 38th in the 3,000m (8:25.47).
Now that the indoor season has come to an end the outdoor season begins March 22. “We’re ready for some spring weather,” Hamer said. “Hopefully we’ll take the lessons learned from the indoor season and carry them over to the outdoor season in a few weeks at VCU.”
