Patch to be Honored
Testimonial for Rider Hall of Famer May 4
NAZARETH, PA—The first great Rider baseball player, Olimpio Pacchioli will be honored May 4 at the Holy Family Club in Nazareth for his years of dedicated service to the Blue Mountain League.
Rider’s Athlete of the Year in 1951, Patch graduated as the career leader in hits, a record that stood for 23 years, and runs batted in, a record that stood for 24 years. He was offered a professional contact but came back to Rider to get his degree instead.
Upon graduation Patch returned to Martin’s Creek to star in the Blue Mountain baseball league. He went on to be president of the league, helping it flourish into an 11-team league that drew thousands of spectators to games. His influence and passion has resulted in the continued success and growth of the league.
Inducted into the Rider Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999, Patch will be honored for his work with the Blue Mountain League Sunday, May 4. The testimonial will begin at 4:00pm and run until 8:00 pm.
