Broncs Add Lehigh Grad D’Orazio to Roster
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ-- Anthony D’Orazio of Camden, NJ, a 2014 graduate of Lehigh University, will be a member of the 2014-15 Rider University men’s basketball team, Rider head coach Kevin Baggett announced.
D’Orazio played three seasons at Lehigh but did not compete in 2013-14 due to an injury. He will compete in his final year of eligibility while working toward his master’s degree at Rider.
“We are happy to have Anthony joining our team,” Baggett said. “Anthony brings experience and leadership to our basketball team, which is fairly young.”
Twice named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the 6’2”, 175 pound D’Orazio played in all 31 games as a junior, starting 29, and averaged 6.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. He led Lehigh with 40 steals and was fourth on the 2012-13 team in rebounding.
As a junior D’Orazio compiled 14 points and five rebounds in the 2013 College Basketball Insider postseason tournament at Wyoming.
As a sophomore D’Orazio hit the game-winning three-point shot to beat Wagner and later played in the 2012 NCAA tournament game against Xavier. That year #15 Lehigh upset #2 Duke in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
“Anthony also brings his experience of having played in the NCAA tournament, which will be valuable to our players and team as we also strive to get there,” Baggett said.
D’Orazio is a 2010 graduate of Camden Catholic High School, where he earned Player of the Year honors by the Courier Post and the Philadelphia Inquirer and was a First Team All-South Jersey and Third Team All-State selection.
D’Orazio joins transfer students Teddy Okereafor (VC) and Matt Lopez (Utah State) and freshmen Anthony Durham (Philadelphia, PA), Kenny Grant (East Orange, NJ) and Josh Williams (Trenton, NJ) on the 2014-15 roster, along with eight returning letterwinners.
