Rider’s Howard Honored by MAAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ-- Rider sophomore goalkeeper Bethany-May Howard (Glastonbury, England/Bridgwater College) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for all games played August 25-31.

In three games last week for the Broncs (2-1) Howard compiled a pair of shutouts, over Seton Hall of the BIG EAST and Bucknell of the Patriot League.

“Beth has been fantastic,” said Rider head coach Drayson Hounsome. “She’s confident and she made some big saves. She has to be one of the best in the conference.”

In three games last week Howard compiled 27 saves while allowing three goals in 283 minutes of action.

"Beth had a strong performance in goal this week, coming up with some important saves anchoring the defense,” Hounsome said.  “It is good to see her recognized so early in the season.”

Howard played half of every game last year as a freshman and was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.

Rider plays at home against Temple Friday at 7pm.
