Swimming & Diving Program Celebrates Together
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Over 175 alumni and friends of the Rider University Swimming & Diving program representing every generation of alumni from the modern era of the program came together on campus to celebrate, have fun and support the current team at two major fundraising events over reunion weekend. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, alumni and friends over $20,000 was raised for the program in less than 24 hours.
All proceeds from both events, including a silent and live auction on Saturday night, will directly support the success of the current teams by helping to defray annual operating costs for the Broncs.
In conjunction with Greg Meehan's '98 induction into the Rider University Athletics Hall of Fame, the coaching staff and a committed group of current team parents and alumni organized a celebration on Rider's reunion weekend that attracted over 110 attendees. The Rider University Swimming & Diving Extra Yard Fundraiser took place Saturday, June 10 at the Trenton Country Club and energized the Swimming & Diving alumni community. Alumni, parents and friends of the program stepped forward to generously sponsor the event and create a memorable night for Meehan and his family including his wife Tess and children, James and Salvatore, who were in attendance.
Other special guests in attendance that night included Susan Teeter, former Head Coach at Princeton University and President of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), Joel Shinofield, Executive Director of the CSCAA and Richard Coppola, long time Rider Head Coach (1969-1997).
The weekend fun continued with the Swimming & Diving Alumni & Friends Golf Outing held on Sunday, June 11th at Heron Glen Golf Course in Flemington, NJ. The highest turnout at the event in 16 years played a scramble format with beautiful summer weather. Congratulations to our top three finishing foursomes for the day in 2017:
