At the MAAC Championships Steve Fletcher was named men’s and women’s MAAC Coach of the Year and Dennis Ceppa was named MAAC Diving Coach of the Year. Senior Priscilla Modrov (Smithtown, NY/Hauppauge) won three individual events and swam on four winning relays for seven gold medals and seven new MAAC records and was named the Female Most Outstanding Performer of the Meet. Senior Harris Mansell (Cheltenham, Pa./Cheltenham) made a three-point field goal with 6.0 seconds left to give Rider a MAAC win over Niagara Wednesday night. Mansell finished with 22 points after making a foul shots with one second left for the final score. Junior Ryan Thompson (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) compiled 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Holding a 53-46 lead, third place Rider went on an 11-0 run, five points by Mansell, to take a 64-46 lead with 15:00 left to play.

The Broncs won four of the nine bouts in a Colonial Athletic Association loss to nationally ranked Old Dominion. Junior Michael Kessler (Randallstown, MD/Owings Mills), ranked 25th in the nation and second in the CAA, defeated the fourth ranked 157 in the CAA to get Rider on the board. senior Jason Lapham (West Chazy, NY/Beekmantown), ranked 29th in the nation and third in the CAA, won by fall. Senior Doug Umbehauer (Shamong, NJ/Lenape), ranked fifth in the nation and second in the CAA, won to cut the lead to 25-12. Junior Ed Bordas (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central), ranked 31st in the nation and first in the CAA, defeated the second ranked heavyweight in the CAA for the final score.

In the win over Niagara junior Tammy Meyers (Willingboro) had her fourth career ‘double-double’ and third of the season with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. The Broncs scored 40 first half points, 12 points by junior Amanda Sepulveda (Perth Amboy/Hun). The Broncs lost to Manhattan despite 12 points and 11 rebounds from senior Shaunice Parker (Waldorf, Md./West Lake).

At the Rider/Lafayette Invite at the Armory, senior Tabatha Haskins (Medford/Shawnee) won the triple jump and tied the Rider record (11.55m). Sophomore Chelsea Callan (Hazlet/Raritan) broke the Rider record in the mile (5:10.79), finishing 11th. Megan Crowe broke a week old Rider record in the 3000 meter (10:28.38) to finish fifth. For the Rider men, sophomore Christian Gonzalez (Somerset/Franklin Twp.) won the 3000 meter in an IC4A qualifying time of 8:23.22.
