M. Basketball
Against Fairfield senior
Harris Mansell (Cheltenham, Pa./Cheltenham) made a jump shot with 1:07 remaining to break a 69-69 tie. Mansell finished with 17 points in his final game in Rider’s Alumni Gym. Junior Ryan Thompson (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) compiled 22 points and nine rebounds. Thompson grabbed an offensive rebound, was fouled and made two foul shots with 14.6 seconds left for the final score. The Broncs went on their own 7-0 run, four points by freshman Novar Gadson (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartram), to take a 48-39 lead with 14:42 left to play. Gadson, the six-time MAAC Rookie of the Week, finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. At Loyola Thompson scored a lay-up at the buzzer for the victory. Thompson finished with 19 points, four rebounds and three assists. Trailing 55-42, Rider out-scored Loyola 16-2, eight points by sophomore Justin Robinson (London, England/Blair Academy) and six points by Gadson, to take a 58-57 lead with 9:40 left to play. Robinson finished with 15 points. Gadson finished with 12 points and five rebounds in 13 minutes of action. Mansell made a three-point field goal with 2:50 left to tie the score at 73-73. Mansell finished with 10 points.

Wrestling
The Broncs won seven bouts to defeat Sacred Heart. Junior Mike Ward (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield Village) won by a major decision. Senior Jason Lapham (West Chazy, NY/Beekmantown) won by tech fall. Senior Doug Umbehauer (Shamong, NJ/Lenape) won by major decision. Junior Michael Kessler (Randallstown, MD/Owings Mills) won by a major decision. Junior Michael Miller (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) won by a major decision. The Broncs won six bouts to defeat Boston U. Freshman Jimmy Kirchner (Somerville) won by fall. Umbehauer won by tech fall.

At Marist the Broncs lost to the defending champs despite 13 points from junior
Tammy Meyers (Willingboro) and 12 points from junior Amanda Sepulveda (Perth Amboy/Hun). At Fairfield Amanda Sepulveda scored a game-high 16 points to go along with seven rebounds. Sepulveda had 15 points against Saint Peter’s. In the win over Niagara Tammy Meyers had 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Meyers and freshman Sarah Homan (Upper Darby, Pa./Deco Christian) were honored by the MAAC, Meyers Second Team All-MAAC and Homan was named to the MAAC All-Rookie team.

Swimming & Diving
At ECACs head coach Steve was voted the ECAC Women’s Coach of the Year for the second straight year with sister and brother combo senior Priscilla and sophomore Drew Modrov
  (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) each winning ECAC Swimmer of the Meet. Priscilla Modrov was the ECAC Swimmer of the Meet last season. On Sunday, Priscilla Modrov won the 200 fly in an ECAC record time of 1:59.12 with Drew Modrov winning the 100 free in an ECAC record time of 44.40. Senior Josh Rosenbluth (Lawrenceville) won the 200 back with a time of 1:47.18. On Saturday freshman Brendan Cavallaro (Middleboro, MA) won the 3-meter dive (286.95), Rosenbluth won the 100 back (49.47) and sophomore Drew Modrov won the 200 free (1:39.07).   For the Rider women, Priscilla Modrov won the 400 IM, breaking her own ECAC record time with a 4:17.40 finish. Sophomore Brianna Burns (Chestnut Ridge, NY/Spring Valley) placed second in the 200 free (1:51.67) and junior Kellyanne Tomasula (Sussex/Vernon Twp.) placed third in the 100 back (56.43). On Friday Priscilla Modrov won the 200 IM in an ECAC record time of 2:01.63 and Drew Modrov won the 50 free in an ECAC record time of 19.97. P. Modrov won the 200 IM at the ECACs last year.   The women’s 200 free relay of Modrov, Burns, senior Ericka Kriedel (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) and Tomasula won in an ECAC record time of 1:35.37.   At the MAAC Championships Steve Fletcher was named Coach of the Year and Dennis Ceppa was named Diving Coach of the Year. Priscilla Modrov was named the Female Most Outstanding Performer. Junior Amanda Burke (Churchville, Pa./William Tennent) was named the Most Outstanding Diver. Drew Modrov was named the Most Outstanding Male.

At the Fast Track Invite junior Alica Price
(Voorhees/Eastern) won the weight throw with a distance of 52’6.50”, qualifying for ECAC’s, with freshman Kristen Perrine (Brick/Brick Township) setting a Rider record in the 1000 meter (2:57.78), finishing fifth. Senior Tabatha Haskins (Medford/Shawnee) set a Rider record in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 38’8.25”, placing fifth and was also 11th in the long jump (17’5.25”).   For the Rider men, sophomore John Clark (Pennsville) set a Rider record in the weight throw with an IC4A qualifying distance of 58’1”, finishing fifth and was seventh in the shot put (47’5.75”). Sophomore Christian Gonzalez (Somerset/Franklin Twp.) qualified for IC4A’s in the mile with a time of 4:14.58, placing sixth and sophomore Michael Soroko (Kinnelon) also qualified for IC4A’s in the 1000 meter with a time of 2:57.78, finishing third.   At the MAAC Championships Alicia Price won the weight throw, Tabatha Haskins was second in the triple jump with a Rider record distance and second in the long jump, sophomore Chelsea Callan (Hazlet/Raritan) was third in the mile with a Rider record time, junior Kelsey Kohler (Southampton, Pa./Saint Basil's Academy) finished third in the 5000 with a Rider record time. Senior Marcellus Manning (Richland/Buena) won the 55 meter hurdles, sophomore Brian Leggett (Old Chatham, N.Y.) won the pole vault.

Baseball
At East Tennessee State junior
Nick Wojnowski (Baldwin, Md./Calvert Hall) made his first start in left field this year after 13 starts in right field last season and hit a solo home run with two outs in the eighth inning to give the Broncs a 7-6 lead. Sophomore A.J. Albee (Ashley, Pa./Hanover Area) hit his first career home run, a three run shot, to give Rider a 6-5 lead in the sixth inning. Wojnowski and sophomore John Ralston (Annandale, Va./Paul VI) collected two-out singles and scored on Albee’s bomb. Senior Sean Olson (Vineland, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) hit a home run to lead off the fourth inning, tying the score at 1-1. The home run was the 19th of his career, tenth highest ever at Rider. Olson had two of Rider’s eight hits. Senior James Hayes (Sunrise, Fla./Piper) led off the first inning with a single, his 209th career hit, third highest ever at Rider, passing former career hit leader and major leaguer Ed Whited (208). At Maryland Eastern Shore James Hayes had five hits and five RBI in the doubleheader, while Sean Olson added three hits and five RBI. Junior Matt McCollum (Tabernacle, N.J./Shawnee) also had five RBI in the doubleheader. Senior Jimmer Kennedy (Levittown, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) pitched six innings and struck out four.
