NEWARK, Del.—The Rider University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swam against Delaware and La Salle Saturday with the women defeating the Explorers and losing to the Blue Hens. The men’s team was swept by Delaware and La Salle.
For the Rider women, senior Brianna Burns (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y./Spring Valley) won the 100 free (53.13) and 200 free (1:53.80) with sophomore Addie Oswald (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley) winning the 200 back (2:06.71) and freshman Melanie Leonhard (Piscataway) winning the 500 free (5:06.93).
For the Rider men, sophomore Johnny Funk (Las Vegas, Nev./Southeast Career & Tech. Academy) was the winner in the 100 back (51.89) and 200 IM (1:55.48) with junior diver Brendan Cavallaro (Middleboro, Mass./Middleboro) winning the three-meter (351.15) and one-meter (295.20).
The men and women defeated La Salle last season with both teams swept by the Blue Hens in 2009-10.
Rider participates at Princeton’s Big Al Open December 3-5.
