Morrison Third NCAA Qualifier

I Am Third was a best-selling book written by NFL Hall of Famer Gale Sayers. The book was the inspiration for the television movie Brian's Song, a 1970s tear-jerker.

The only tears in the Morrison household Wednesday night were tears of joy, as the NCAA announced the Division I Wrestling Championships field and Rider senior Rob Morrison was granted an at large berth.

Morrison, the top seeded 174 pounder at the recent Colonial Athletic Association Championships, ended the regular season ranked 20th in the nation before finishing third at the CAAs.

With the at-large bid Morrison (29-7) joins two teammates, sophomores Zac Cibula and Jim Resnick, as NCAA qualifiers.

Cibula won his 149 pound weight class and was named the CAA Most Outstanding Wrestler. In the finals Cibula (27-10) defeated the top seed who had defeated the defending national champion earlier this year.

Resnick (19-7) placed third in his deeply talented 165 pound weight class at the CAAs.

The NCAA Championships, hosted by Rider and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, will be held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia March 17-19.
