Bedelyon Named Rider Assistant Coach
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ-Nic Bedelyon, a two-time All-American at Kent State University, has joined the Rider University coaching staff, head coach Gary Taylor announced.
"We are very excited to announce the addition of Nic Bedelyon to our coaching staff," said Taylor, who just completed his 34th season at Rider and has 380 wins. "Nic is a great kid who will bring a lot of success and energy to our program."
Bedelyon placed sixth in his 125 pound weight class at the 2012 NCAA Championships, becoming just the third two-time All-American from Kent. He graduated with 113 career wins, sixth most ever in program history. He was a four-time NCAA qualifier and a two-time MAC Champion.
"Nic will be involved in every aspect of our program and will specifically be involved in the recruiting and development of our lightweights," Taylor said.
Bedelyon hails from Lewistown, PA, where he attended Indian Valley High School. At Indian Valley he compiled a record of 123-14 and placed second in PA his senior year, fifth his junior year and fourth as a sophomore.
"We were looking for a young man that could compete, coach and grow with our program and for someone who wanted to become a coach," Taylor said. "Nic has all of those qualifications and aspirations and we feel that he is a great fit for the University and for the wrestling program."
Bedelyon joins Associate Head Coach John Hangey and Volunteer Assistant Coach Jason Nase on the Rider staff.
