NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.--The Rider University volleyball team lost in straight sets at Iona in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match Saturday afternoon in New York.
The Gaels won 25-12, 25-19, 25-16.
"The match was pretty good," said head coach Emily Ahlquist. "Iona is really a tough place to play."

Also for the Broncs, senior Kristy Love (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) had six kills and hit .235 in the match.

Iona (10-5, 4-1 MAAC) defeated Rider 3-1 in Lawrenceville and 3-0 in New Rochelle last season. The teams meet in Alumni Gym for the re-match in the last regular season match of the season November 14.
The Gaels have won 19 of the 22 matches all-time against Rider. The Broncs last defeated Iona in 1999.
Rider hosts Siena in a MAAC match on Sunday at 1pm in Alumni Gym on the Lawrenceville campus. The Saints lost in five sets at Loyola on Saturday.
"It will be good to have a home match," Ahlquist added. "The away/home weekends are tough but we like playing at home and we are looking forward to a good match against Siena."
