Broncs Play St. Joe's at Hawk Hill
Rider Plays Old Foe on New Field
MERION STATION, PA--The Rider baseball team travels to Saint Joseph's University Tuesday for a 3pm game. It will be the Broncs' first visit to the new Hawk baseball field on the Maguire Campus.
Baseball returned to Hawk Hill this year for the first time in over five decades. In the recent past SJU played its home games in Norristown.
The Hawks (17-22, 7-4 A-10) have won nine of their last 11 games, coming off a split with Charlotte over the weekend.
St. Joseph's defeated the University of Pennsylvania at Citizen's Bank Park last Tuesday to win the Liberty Bell Classic.
The last time Rider played Saint Joseph's was April 27, 2010, a 10-0 Bronc win at Rider. That was the 53rd meeting in the series that began in 1946, with Rider holding a 37-16 advantage.
Rider and Saint Joseph's were East Coast Conference rivals from 1975-1982 and Middle Atlantic Conference University Division rivals in the 1960s and early 1970s.
Rider (12-26, 7-8 MAAC) won one of three conference games with Marist over the weekend and hosts Princeton University Wednesday.
The Broncs are led by junior outfielder Ian Lindsay (Oaklyn/Haddon Twp.), who ranks eighth in the MAAC in batting average at .331.
The Broncs return to MAAC play this weekend at Saint Peter's with an 11am start to the Saturday doubleheader.
