Rider's Thomas MAAC Rookie of Week
LAWRENCEVILLE-Rider University freshman Justin Thomas was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for all games played the first week of May.
Thomas (Richboro, PA/Council Rock South) batted .750 last week with a slugging percentage of 1.000 and an on base percentage of .800, as Rider won a MAAC series with Siena.
"He has been playing well, giving us some additional pop in the middle of the lineup," said Rider head coach Barry Davis.
Thomas, a first baseman, had six hits, including two doubles, two walks, scored three runs and had an RBI, as Rider won two of three games against Siena.
In the last six games Thomas has raised his batting average from .256 to .314. "He is continuing to improve each day," Davis said.
Thomas and the Broncs travel to the Bronx, NY to take on Iona in a 5pm MAAC game at Fordham Saturday night. The 12 noon Sunday doubleheader moves back to New Rochelle.
