Dentino, Penas Athletes of the Month
Anthony Dentino of the cross country team and Sandra Penas of the field hockey team were named the Rider Athletes of the Month for all competition in September.
Dentino, a sophomore from Sewell, NJ (Washington Twp.), was Rider's top finisher in all three races this season to date and was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Runner of the Week.
Penas, a junior from Barcelona, Spain, was twice named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week in September and leads the NEC in both goals and points.
Already seventh in career points at Rider, Penas currently ranks 14th in the nation in goals and 16th in the country in points.
Dentino was the top collegiate finisher in the season opener and he placed third overall in a meet at Van Cortlandt Park. In the Paul Short Run, a race involving many nationally ranked teams and runners, Dentino shaved an entire minute off of his time from the same race last year.
