LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University Women’s Soccer Head Coach Drayson Hounsome has announced the written commitments of five incoming student-athletes for next year. Gabrielle Jara (Mount Olive, NJ/Mount Olive), Ashlyn Johnson (Valencia, CA/Valencia), Camryn Santers (Wayne Hills, NJ/Wayne Hills), Kaitlyn Siciliano (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) and Madeleine Tarin (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills) will join the Broncs for the 2017 season.

A defender, Jara was a four-year varsity starter for the Mount Olive Marauders. She earned First Team All-NJAC and First Team All-County in 2016. At the club level, Jara played for the nationally-recognized Player Development Academy.

“Gabby is a composed and technically good player who we first identified at our summer ID clinic,” said Hounsome. “Developed through the outstanding Player Development Academy here in New Jersey, she is very comfortable on the ball, has good balance, good pace and will be an excellent addition to our defensive unit.”

Ashlyn Johnson

Also a member of the back line, Johnson was a winner of the Coaches Award at Valencia High School. She led the Vikings to the CIF playoffs in 2015-16. A member of the Arsenal ECNL club for three years, Johnson helped lead her team to the ECNL playoffs in consecutive years, 2015 and 2016.

“Ashlyn is a tough and tenacious defender who looks to step in front of opponents to win the ball,” said Hounsome. “She is aggressive in the air and looks to get forward into the attacking third. Following in the footsteps of graduating senior Priscilla Santos, Ashlyn comes from the same Arsenal ECNL club in California and demonstrates a similar ability to play quickly out of pressure.”

Camryn Santers

A midfielder, Santers was a four-year varsity starter who led the Wayne Hills Patriots to three County and League Championships. Santers received First Team All-County honors in 2015 and 2016 and All-League and All-State recognition as a senior captain this past season. At the club level, Santers played for the New Jersey Crush in the NPL league, helping them to the Disney, PDA and National Premier League Championships in 2015.

“Cami is a fast and tenacious player who we really enjoyed getting to know during the recruiting process,” said Hounsome. “She is a very versatile player, being equally comfortable as a defender or midfielder.”

Kaitlyn Siciliano

A third defender in the class, Siciliano was a four-year varsity starter for Barnegat High School. She received All-Division honors and the Varsity Coaches Award in 2016 for the Bengals. At the club level, Siciliano played for the PDA Shore Magic and the New Jersey Olympic Development Program.

“Kaitlyn is another player from the Player Development Academy here in New Jersey so she will be joining us with a high level of technical training,” said Hounsome. “She can play in the middle or out wide, is composed in possession of the ball and is comfortable starting the attack. Defensively, she reads the game very well, is strong in the tackle and has good defensive pace.”

Madeleine Tarin

A midfielder, Tarin was a four-year varsity starter with Chino Hills High School. She led the Huskies to the Sierra League Championship, CIF Championship and Southern California State finalist as a freshman. She was awarded Baseline League Honorable Mention in 2015-16 on the way to the divisional championship. At the club level, Tarin has played five seasons in the Elite Clubs National League in California, winning the 2015-16 Surf Cup. Tarin currently plays on the same ECNL team as future Broncs teammate Ashlyn Johnson.

“Maddy is a dynamic midfielder from California with excellent movement, great technical ability and good balance,” said Hounsome. “Her ability to maintain possession and create passing opportunities in tight spaces suits our style of play very well.”
