Perkins, Walsh earn Rider December Athletes of the Month
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Senior women’s basketball guard Robin Perkins (Willingboro, NJ/Trenton Catholic [Saint Francis Univ.]) and junior wrestler Chad Walsh (Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic) have been named Rider University’s Athletes of the Month for December.
Perkins led the Broncs to a 5-2 record in the month, averaging 18.9 points per game. Included in the production was the 1,000th point of her collegiate career during a 33-point eruption against league-leading Quinnipiac. For the month, she knocked down 44.9 percent from the floor, 40.0 percent from long range and 80.0 percent from the free-throw line. Perkins led the Broncs to a 2-0 start in league play for the first time in the Broncs’ 20 years in the MAAC. She was named MAAC Player of the Week on Dec. 12.
Walsh, currently ranked as high as No. 5 in the national rankings at 165, went 6-1 in December, including a pair of wins in dual matches. He defeated his opponents from EWL foe Lock Haven and then-No. 19 Pennsylvania, before making a run to the Midlands Championships final. His only loss in the month came to defending National Champion Isaiah Martinez of Illinois.
