PRINCETON, NJ – The Rider University track and field team continued to compete at the 2017 ECAC / IC4A Outdoor Championships on Saturday afternoon at William Weaver Track & Field Stadium on the campus of Princeton University. A pair of All-East performances and a new program record highlighted the second day of action.

Due to the inclement weather, the event pushed back most of Saturday's events to tomorrow and saw the men's pole vault moved indoors to Jadwin Gymnasium.

“We had a really great day today with two athletes earning All-East honors,” Rider Head Coach Bob Hamer said. “These are two guys who show up every day and put in the work that it takes to be the best version of themselves.  They are the quintessential student-athletes in our program and they were rewarded with some great success today.”

In the men's pole vault, senior Erik Adamcik (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) finished in a tie for seventh with a mark of 5.00M (16-04.75). Adamcik earned All-East honors to cap a stellar career and season, while also earning 1.50 team points for Rider.

“Erik was really good today,” Hamer added. “He was the victim of some unfortunate circumstances last week but he came ready to vault today. It was very exciting to watch him get the record.  He has accomplished so much in his career and it is great to see him go out on top.”

In the men's hammer throw, sophomore Matt Kraemer (Budd Lake, NJ/East Stroudsburg/Mount Olive) finished in seventh-place with a toss of 54.62M to earn All-East honors. He finished just .01M behind the sixth-place finisher and he also earned two team points for Rider.

“I was very proud of Matt today,” Hamer noted. “The conditions were very bad with the rain and the wind, but he did not let it bother him at all.  We always talk to our athletes about how the conditions can be bad, but it should not affect your effort.  He gave his best effort and he was rewarded with an All-East performance.”

Rider closes out the 2017 ECAC / IC4A Outdoor Championships on Sunday with a full slate of action.
