POUGHKEEPSIE, NYAmanda Jordan (Somerset, NJ/Franklin Township) doubled, homered and drove in three, but the Rider University softball team fell at defending MAAC Champion Marist, 4-3 and 5-1, Saturday afternoon. With the losses, the Broncs slip to 6-42 (1-17 MAAC) while the Red Foxes improve to 34-19 (12-6 MAAC).

The Red Foxes took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first of Game 1 on Janna Korak's two-run home run. But the Broncs battled back with three in the top of the fourth. Toni Nino (Adelanto, CA/Silverado) singled, stole second with two out and scored on Gabby Bram's (Jackson, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) RBI infield single. Jordan then homered to right to stake the Broncs to a 3-2 lead. But the Red Foxes tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI infield single and scored what proved to be the winning run when a passed ball on a swung on third strike to lead off the bottom of the sixth came around to score on a Korak sacrifice fly.

In Game 2, the Red Foxes methodically built a 5-0 lead with a run in the first, two in the second and one each in the fourth and fifth innings. Nino singled with two out in the top of the sixth and Jordan followed with an RBI double. But Marist would close out the 5-1 victory.
