W. Soccer Against NJIT freshman Jennifer Meier (Sayville, N.Y./St. Anthony's) had two goals and an assist and sophomore Claire Thompson (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) had a goal and an assist. Sophomore Abi Cottam (Leominster, England/Ludlow) also scored and now has 5 goals and 12 points. At Wagner freshman Jody Sokol (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) scored in the 12th minute of the game. It was Sokol's third goal of the season. Field Hockey At Holy Cross freshman Sandra Penas (Barcelona, Spain) scored twice and junior Virginia Egusquiza (Getxo, Spain) had a goal and two assists. Junior Megan Pisani (Plainsboro/W. Windsor Plainsboro-North) and freshman Alicia Govannicci (Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) also had a goal and an assist for Rider. Junior Rebecca Lotito (Oceanport/Shore Regional) recorded her first career shutout. Volleyball The first MAAC match of the season went five sets against Manhattan and senior Amanda Piccolini (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) had 49 assists and 16 digs with fellow senior Kristy Love (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) recording 17 kills and four blocks. There were 31 ties and nine lead changes in the match, including 11 ties in the third set when Rider staved off five match points before winning 29-27. Against Fairfield sophomore Haley Wilson (Williamsburg, Iowa/Williamsburg) had a team-high 13 digs after singing the national anthem.

M. Soccer The Bronc Booters were shut out twice last week. Junior goalkeeper Christopher Pimentel (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) played the final 35 scoreless minutes and made four saves against St. Francis and sophomore Jason Giordano (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) made his first collegiate start in the Rider goal and made six saves at Temple. Golf (0-0) 13th of 17 at Rutgers TBA 10th of 12 at St. Bonaventure 9am Sat-Sun 25-26 at Cornell TBA Golf At St. Bonaventure junior Brent Wolgast (Bay City, Mich./Pendleton) had a 77 on Monday after an 80 on Sunday for a total of 157 to place 37th among the 61 golfers. The 77 was the 29th best round of the day. Rider junior Brian Accorsini (Hopkinton, Mass/Hopkinton) shot a 76 on Sunday but had an 82 on Monday on the par 70, 6,038 yard Bartlett Country Club course to finish with a 158, good for 46th place. Freshman James Buttermark (Staten Island, N.Y/Monsignor Farrell) shot a 77 Monday after his 81 on Sunday to also place 46th at 158.

Against St. Joseph’s sophomore Marly Roche (Sussex/High Point Regional) and sophomore Alexa Manforti (Toms River/Toms River HS South) teamed up for an 8-6 win at first doubles with junior Danielle White (Reading, Pa./Reading) and sophomore Jaclyn Giameo (Roselle Park) teaming up for an 8-5 win at second doubles.

Against St. Joseph’s sophomore Ryan Carpenter (Sahuarita, Ariz./Sahuarita) won eight games at the sixth singles position. Against NJIT Carpenter won five games at number six singles and teamed with freshman Rollie Malfitano (Wenonah/Gloucester Catholic) to win four games at number three doubles.

Cross Country Senior Chris Gonzalez (Somerset, NJ/Franklin Twp.) finished first overall and senior Mike Soroko (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) finished second at the 14-team Fordham Fiasco, Gonzalez in 25:50.1 on the 5.0 mile Van Cortlandt Park course and Soroko in 26:07. For the Rider women, senior Chelsea Callan (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) finished 10th overall in the 5K race in 19:00.9 and sophomore Jillian Shutt (Lawrenceville, PA/Williamson) was second among Broncs in 20:11.
