La Salle Edges Rider, 3-2

Box Score
PHILADELPHIAAmanda Jordan (Somerset, NJ/Franklin Township) hit her second home run of the year and Monica Clark (Bryn Mawr, PA/Archbishop Carroll) tripled and scored a run, but the Rider University softball team fell to La Salle, 3-2, Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs slip to 6-40, while the Explorers improve to 20-24.

Clark led off the game with a triple down the right field line and scored on Shelby Miller's (Roseville, CA/Whitney) groundout. La Salle took its first lead of the game with two runs in the bottom of the first. The first two batters of the inning reached on a single and a walk, moved to second and third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a sacrifice fly and a passed ball. The Broncs evened the score in the top of the second on Jordan's solo shot to right.

But the Explorers got what proved to be the winning run on a pair of errors on a stolen-base attempt in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, Mackenzie Obert singled, stole second, took third on an errant throw from the catcher and advanced home on a throwing error from the center fielder.

Elyse Cuttic (Easton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) started in the circle and took the tough-luck loss. She allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits and two walks, while striking out three.
