Lawrenceville, NJ – Senior
Karoline Sandvig (West Windsor, NJ/ West Windsor Plainsboro HS South) of the Rider University women's track and field team was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Female Field Performer of the Week on Tuesday afternoon as announced by the league office.
Sandvig earned weekly recognition from the MAAC for the second straight week and third time during the indoor season. Sandvig is the only thrower in the conference to receive weekly accolades more than once thus far during the indoor season. She is the second Bronc this season to garner weekly accolades from the conference office joining classmate
Sara Gardner (Holland Township, NJ/Delaware Valley).
"One of our main objectives with an athlete is to attain consistency," Rider Head Coach
Bob Hamer said. "Consistency in both training and competing. When they achieve this consistency, they are able to fully realize their potential. Karoline is experiencing that right now. I'm really excited for her. She is having a great season and we are looking forward to watching her continued growth and development."
Sandvig continued to impress during the indoor season last week at the Saint Thomas Aquinas College Spartan Invite contested inside the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island. She set a new PR and won the weight throw with an ECAC-qualifying toss of 17.66m. Her mark in the event is tops in the MAAC this season.
The Broncs return to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex next Friday, January 19, for their third straight meet in Staten Island. Rider will take part in the one-day Gotham Cup.
