NEWARK, DE – The Rider University baseball team dropped a second-straight game at Delaware, falling 6-3 Saturday afternoon. The Broncs drop to 5-4 on the season, while the Blue Hens improved to 4-5.
Just like yesterday, the Blue Hens broke through in the first with a pair of runs after loading the bases with no outs. Delaware extended the lead in the third, adding another pair.
In the fourth,
Socrates Bardatsos (Ridgefield, NJ/St. Joseph's Regional) drew a one-out walk. Two batter later,
Jake Barbiere (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) hit a two-out single.
Brendan O'Donnell (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) was then hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Luke Lesch (Gloucester Township, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and
Jack Winsett (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) drew RBI walks and the Broncs cut the deficit in half.
John Volpe (Sea Girt, NJ/Wall) led off the inning with a home run, but it would be the last Rider run of the game. Delaware would add two more in the seventh to produce the final score.
